Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose start a serious effort for The Open at Royal Liverpool. The US Open champion Wyndham Clark and Xander Schauffele are Cameron Smith's opponents as he begins his title defence. The world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is paired with Tommy Fleetwood and Adam Scott. The first round will be shown live on Thursday at 6.30 a.m. on Sky Sports Golf.
For the first two rounds of The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool, Rory McIlroy has been paired with Masters champion Jon Rahm and former world No. 1 Justin Rose.
With a late-early start time, McIlroy, who won The Open the last time it was played at Hoylake in 2014, will attempt to build on his victory at the Scottish Open and end his nine-year major drought.
The final men's major of the year will be broadcast entirely live on Sky Sports, and the four-time major champion will be the focus of the afternoon programming on the first day. He will tee off at 2.59 p.m. local time on that day, and play will begin at 9.58 a.m. on Friday.
Xander Schauffele, who has recorded top-20 results in his last six major outings, and US Open winner Wyndham Clark are drawn next to defending champion Cameron Smith on the opposite side of the draw.
The number one player in the world, Scottie Scheffler, is in the group ahead of Tommy Fleetwood and former Masters champion Adam Scott. He has finished in the top five in each of his previous seven starts internationally and hasn't placed worse than 12th since October.
On the first day, reigning PGA Championship champion Brooks Koepka tees off early with world No. 4 Patrick Cantlay and Hideki Matsuyama, while 2017 champion Jordan Spieth is paired with fellow major winners Jason Day and Matt Fitzpatrick.
Runner-up in 2014 The 2019 Champion Golfer of the Year Shane Lowry and Sunday's Scottish Open runner-up Robert MacIntyre are in the same group as Rickie Fowler, who won on the PGA Tour earlier this month at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
After advancing through Final Qualifying earlier this month, Royal Liverpool member Matthew Jordan has been awarded the privilege of making the tournament's opening tee shot. Richie Ramsay and Branden Grace will finish the opening threeball at 6.35 am.

When will Sky Sports broadcast The Open live?
80 hours of live programming over the course of the tournament week and a wealth of additional programming will be available on Sky Sports' 24-hour coverage of The Open.
For the first two tournament days on Thursday, July 20 and Friday, July 21, full coverage will start at 6.30am and continue until 9pm for each of the first two rounds. The opening tee shot will take place at 6.35am on both days.
With Featured Groups and Featured Hole feeds available to enjoy as the top golfers in the world take on Royal Liverpool, there is also a tonne of additional coverage accessible throughout each day via the red button on Sky Sports Golf, Sky Q, and Sky Glass.
The 151st Open will only be shown live on Sky Sports the entire week. On Thursday, July 20, Sky Sports Golf will begin live coverage of the first round at 6.30 a.m.
