Alison Hammond's appearance on This Morning is cut short as she exposes a terrible injury. Presenter of This Morning Alison Hammond was recently injured during a picture shoot and had to beg her co-star Dermot O'Leary to be kind with her.

In order to participate on the broadcast earlier today, This Morning actress Alison Hammond had to address an injury she got during a picture session.

The presenter was left in a pickle after getting injured, and is presently hosting alongside Dermot O'Leary as part of Holly Willoughby's planned summer hiatus from the ITV programme.

However, Dermot suggested that it was well worth the wait to find out what the photoshoot was for – "very exciting!" he exclaimed – after Alison jokingly said she couldn't tell what the photoshoot was for.

But as she pleaded with Dermot to be patient with her, Alison revealed that during her shift at work, she had "damaged" her thumb, which had given her considerable discomfort. Did you notice how I could only slap you with that one? Dermot got a high-five from her as she welcomed the audience to the performance. I've had a thumb injury.

She continued, "I was conducting a photoshoot, for which I will not disclose the purpose, and I had to hold a position for three hours, believe it or not, and I've hurt my thumb. I don't think you can actually see it," she said as the camera focused on her thumb up close.

She begged, "It's just really swollen, just be careful with me today, be gentle," before Dermot made a joke about how she was featured in the renowned Playboy Centrefold, to Alison's consternation.

Their appearance this week follows ITV sources' debunking of rumours that Alison and Dermot's relationship had grown "strained" just a few days prior.

Despite their on-screen relationship seemed to be flourishing, reports suggested that this isn't the reality behind the scenes, which might be another blow to the network. Since Holly Willoughby's connection with her old friend Phillip Schofield broke out and it was revealed that he had an affair with a younger employee, the show has had to deal with some major turbulence.

The Mirror, however, was informed by an ITV insider that "this is complete nonsense. There is absolutely no friction between Dermot and Alison.

"Alison and Dermot got off to a tricky start, they had very different levels of experience and came from totally different places, but they then did start to rub along quite nicely," an insider had previously stated.

They continued, "Recently though things have become strained and it is worrying the bosses, they fear that this couple they put together which they had hoped would carry the show through the tough times it is enduring may have to present apart a bit more." according to the Mail on Sunday.
